An Oath of Office

Dear Friends,

If I am elected in November, I will be required to take an oath of office. A heavy burden of office is remaining in compliance with the oath. The Town Council is required to take an oath of office,

“I do solemnly swear ( or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Virginia…” (Appomattox Code, Article 3, Division 1, Section 5-25). This is significant because, under oath, I must and am compelled to support Federal and State constitutional law. This is great news because of the particular preambles of both documents.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

A DECLARATION OF RIGHTS made by the good people of Virginia in the exercise of their sovereign powers, which rights do pertain to them and their posterity, as the basis and foundation of government.

            Both Documents’ top priority is acknowledging the first Law Makers, which are the “We the People” in the United States and “A Declaration of Rights made by the good people of Virginia” in our Commonwealth. The people are the sovereign bearers of law and order and are protected because of inherent/unalienable rights.

            I’m proud to, hopefully, take that oath in the coming months and execute the duties of the office of Councilmen. (, so help me God.)
